Spotlight 6: Go global with multilingual microsites

Spotlight 6: Go global with multilingual microsites

Attendees are willing to travel for the right event. With great speakers, a relevant topic, and a killer venue in an interesting city, you could attract people from all around the world to participate. How do you increase the chances of that happening? Translate your site into their language, rather than forcing them to struggle through a site written in yours. By talking to your attendees in the language they're most comfortable in, you'll catch their interest, build trust, and reduce friction before they purchase tickets.

Appeal to a wider audience

With Backstage's versatile multi-language feature, you can cater to an international audience by choosing from 89 languages for your microsite. Multilingual microsites help you expand the reach of your event, and they improve performance in organic search results, meaning more people will learn about your event.

The following languages are supported in Backstage:
Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bambara, Basque, Belarusian, Bengali, Bosnian, Breton, Bulgarian, Burmese, Catalan, Chinese, Chuvash, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Estonian, Faroese, Finnish, French, Gaelic, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Javanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Khmer, Korean, Kurdish, Kyrgyz, Lao, Latvian, Lithuanian, Luxembourgish, Macedonian, Malay, Malayalam, Maltese, Māori, Marathi, Mongolian, Nepali, Northern Sami, Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Sindhi, Sinhala, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish, Swahili, Swati, Swedish, Tagalog, Tajik, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Tibetan Standard, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, Welsh, Western Frisian, and  Yoruba .

Your event in any language

With Backstage, you can build a microsite in any language. All text fields—from the basic details to the agenda to the speaker profiles –can accept the characters set or alphabet for your preferred language. From Chinese to Russian to Urdu, you can build your site in whatever language you're most comfortable with.

Translate and update easily

Importing an alternate language on Backstage is neither complicated nor time-consuming. All you have to do is export a spreadsheet containing all the text you've entered for your event site, do the translation yourself or hire an agency to do it, and then import it back into Backstage. In the process, if you encounter any errors, you'll get an email describing what the errors are and how to fix them.

Customize the list at will

Keep one language as the source or default language and order the other languages according to their reach. When in Rome, Italian would probably take precedence over English. Or you could keep English the default language and Italian just below it to connect with native speakers of the region. If your translation is still in the works, hide the language and reveal it when it's ready.
