Delete and restore files and folders in a Team Folder
Weed out unwanted files and folders in your Team Folder by deleting them. If you make a mistake, though, you can restore them instantly. You'll never have to worry about accidentally deleting an important file again!
Move a file or folder to Trash
- Navigate to the left pane and choose a Team Folder from which you want to delete a file or folder.
The selected Team Folder, along with the list of associated files and folders will appear on the right.
- Right-click on the file or folder that you want to delete and select Move to Trash.
Alternatively, select a file or folder that you wish to delete and click on the More actions icon at the top and choose Move to Trash.

The selected item will be moved to the Trash folder within the selected Team Folder.
- Only Admins and Organizers can move files and folders to the respective Team Folder's Trash.
- Trashing files and folders that are shared with other team members will remove the files and folders for them as well.
Restore a file or folder from Trash
- Navigate to the left pane and choose a Team Folder from which you want to restore a file or folder.
The selected Team Folder with the list of associated files and folders will appear on the right.
- Click the Manage button at the top and choose Trash. The Trash folder will appear.
- Select the file or folder you want to restore and click the Restore button at the top of the trash list.
Alternatively, you can also hover over the file or folder and click Restore.

Both Admins and Organizers can restore deleted files and folders from a Team Folder's Trash.
Delete a file or folder from Trash
- Navigate to the left pane and choose a Team Folder from which you want to delete a file or folder.
The selected Team Folder with the list of associated files and folders will appear on the right. - Click the Manage button at the top and choose Trash. The Trash folder will appear.
- Select the file or folder you want to delete and click the Delete button at the top of the trash list.
Alternatively, you can also hover over the file or folder and click Delete.
- Only Admins can delete files and folders from a Team Folder's Trash.
- As an extra layer of data security, once items in the Trash are deleted, they will be temporarily moved to Deleted Items under the Data Administration tab in the Admin Console. Learn how to manage deleted items in Admin Console
- Support for Data Administration is only available in WorkDrive's Team and Business plans and for Zoho One users. Learn more about WorkDrive plans and pricing.
- Users on other plans (WorkDrive Essentials (Free), WorkDrive Starter, Workplace bundle) need to upgrade to the WorkDrive Team or Business plan to restore or permanently delete items using the Data Administration tab before the default 90 days retention period.
- For WorkDrive Team, Business plans and Zoho One users, Admins can configure retention settings to automatically delete items from the Trash after certain days (7/15/30). Learn more about data retention policies.
