Permission Sets

Zoho Projects offers better control over the access levels a user has in the portal. Profile permissions have been divided into three sections. Portal Level, Project Level, and Module Level. Each permission in these sections lets users handle host of activities and/or features inside the portal. Here is a breakdown on what you can and cannot do when the permissions are enabled.

User Profiles

Default Module Permissions

This section lets you set permissions at a granular level. These can be applied to all user profile.

Only Portal Owners can add Admins to the portal.
Portal level permissions can be granted only to user profiles.

TASK

Custom Module Permissions

This section lets you set permissions at a granular level for custom modules created in a portal. These can be applied to all user profiles. Custom Modules can be either Organisation module or project module. Data added to Global/ Organization Module will be stored commonly across all projects. Data added to project module will be stored for a specific project individually.

System Profiles

System profiles are the default profile types enabled for a portal at the time of creation. The profile types are Viewer, Read-Only user and Lite user (Lite User profile available only in Ultimate Plan).

The difference between these profiles are their extent of access into projects in a portal.

Viewer profile can only view the public projects in a portal.
Read-only user profile can view all associated projects in the portal.
Lite user profile in ultimate plan, has add and edit permissions depending on the module enabled by default.

Viewer profile is available by default for all plans and Read-Only profile is available from enterprise plan, V 11 onwards. Lite users profile is available only for Ultimate plan and not in bundled services.

The System Profiles permissions are set by default for Viewer and Read Only Profiles and cannot be modified. Lite Users permissions can be modified for specific actions.
