Question Regarding Managing Sale Items in Zoho Books

Good day,

I was wondering about something. Right now, Zoho Books doesn’t seem to have a way to flag certain items as being on sale.

For example, if I want a list of specific items to be on sale from October 1 to October 12, the user would have to export those items, change their prices, and then import them back.

This process can be cumbersome and is also prone to human error — especially forgetting to change the prices on the correct dates.

Using price lists does not solve this issue either. It introduces another problem: if we have a 10% discount price list for a customer, we wouldn’t want that 10% discount to be applied on top of the sale items (or, in some cases, we might want the best discount to apply, whichever is lower).

As of right now, Zoho offers no way to manage this scenario. We could build an extension to handle the calculation whenever a line item is modified, but unfortunately, this wouldn’t work when using the CRM integration, as extensions are not passed through to it.

It’s a bit ironic, because Zoho Commerce has an option to manage sales natively.

Maybe I’m missing something — and I hope I am! If your team has figured out a way to handle this, I would love to know how.

Please keep in mind that we can’t rely on price lists for this purpose, as we already have 11 price lists and over 75% of our contacts are tied to them (which we assign automatically using schedules, because the price list feature is quite limited).

Thank you,
