How to set up ‘Adjusted Revenue’ in Zoho Books?

Hello,

I have a marketing agency where I typically offer social media management and advertising services to local clients on a retainer/monthly-recurring basis.

One of my core services include Ad Spend (we call it Digital Media Buying), which contributes to around 30% of our gross revenues. Since this is a fixed margin service (we charge a markup based on the amount of dollars spent), it inflates our gross revenues and portrays a misleading picture in my financial statements.

For more context, this is how the Gross Revenue calculation should look like for us in the Income Statement:

A. Revenue (Source 1)
B. Revenue (Source 2)
C. Total Revenue = A + B
D. Discounts on Invoices
E. Refunds
F. Net Revenue = C - (D + E)
G. Digital Media Buying/Ad Spend Costs
H. Net Adjusted Revenue = F - G

After Net Adjusted Revenue is computed, the rest of the format remains unchanged

How can I configure this in Zoho Books so that all Ad Spend/Digital Media Buying expenses are subtracted from Net Revenue instead of being shown under Cost of Goods Sold account type.

P.S. Yes, this expense account is currently mapped as Cost of Goods Sold in my CoA structure.

- I am a new user with no previous experience in using cloud accounting software
- I am currently in the Free plan in Zoho Books (<50k USD p.a revenues)
- I do not use any other products from the Zoho One suite, but may integrate CRM and Expenses into my workflow. I am also open to suggestions if required, to solve the issue I am facing.

Looking forward to some great suggestions from the community! Thank you in advance ❤️
