Troubleshoot OneAuth Push Notification Issues on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS

Troubleshooting OneAuth Notifications

If you’re not receiving push notifications or experiencing delays during authentication in OneAuth, this guide will help you resolve the issue.
Do not uninstall the app if push notifications fail.
Open the app instead, as pending notifications will still be visible inside.

General troubleshooting (Applies to all devices)

These tips apply regardless of whether you're using iOS, Android, Windows, or macOS.
  1. Check internet connection - Ensure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data network.

  2. Resend Push - If a push notification fails, tap Resend Push. The timer next to Resend Push shows the validity of each push.

  3. Refresh the app - Open OneAuth. Go to Settings → Refresh App under Security & Privacy. This helps clear temporary glitches.

  4. Check primary device setting – If you have multiple devices, push notifications are sent only to your primary device by default. To receive the notification on another device, select it from the drop-down list on the sign-in page.

  5. Update the OneAuth app - Open OneAuth. Go to Settings → About OneAuth, then tap Update (shown only when a new version is available).

  6. Verify date & time settings - In your device’s Date & Time settings, enable Set Automatically/Use network-provided time. Incorrect settings on your device can cause sync issues.

  7. Restart your device - A restart often resolves notification delays or glitches.

Device-specific troubleshooting

iOS/macOS
  1. Enable Notifications
Go to Settings → Notifications → OneAuth → Enable Allow Notifications. Choose your preferred alert style (banners, sounds, badges).

  2. Check Focus Modes
Go to Settings → Focus. If you use any Focus mode (Do Not Disturb, Personal, Sleep, Work, or a custom Focus), either turn it off or add OneAuth to the Allowed Apps list.
    1. If Focus is synced across devices via iCloud, make sure OneAuth is allowed on all devices.
    2. If Time-Sensitive Notifications are enabled in Focus but disabled for OneAuth under Notifications, push notifications may fail.

  3. Turn off Low Power Mode
    1. On iOS, go to Settings → Battery → Turn off Low Power Mode, as it may restrict background activity.
    2. On macOS, go to System Settings → Battery → Options and turn off Low Power Mode.

  4. Check OS Version Compatibility
OneAuth supports iOS 13 or later and macOS 11 Big Sur or later. Go to Settings → General → Software Update to install the latest version.
Android
  1. Check OneAuth Settings
    1. If notifications are turned off in your device:
Open OneAuth → Settings → Not receiving notifications? → Enable Allow OneAuth to show notifications.
    2. To let the app run in the background:
Open OneAuth → Settings → Not receiving notifications? → Enable Allow OneAuth to run in background.

  2. Check Device Settings
Go to Settings → Sound & vibration → Do Not Disturb
If DND is active, allow OneAuth as an exception or turn off DND temporarily.
Windows
  1. Enable Notifications
Go to Settings → System → Notifications.
Ensure notifications are turned on and OneAuth is allowed to show alerts.

  2. Check Battery Saver
On Windows 11, go to Settings → System → Power & battery.
If Battery Saver is enabled, disable it and charge your device.

  3. Check Device Settings (Do Not Disturb/Focus Assist)
    1. Go to Settings → System → Notifications → Do Not Disturb.
    2. If DND or Focus Assist is enabled, turn it off or add OneAuth to the priority apps list (Settings → System → Notifications → Set priority notifications).
Note: When DND/Focus Assist is active, notifications (including push notifications) are silenced and appear only in the Notification Center.

  4. Allow Background Apps
Go to Settings → Apps → OneAuth → Advanced options → Let this app run in background.
Allow OneAuth to run in the background to receive notifications.

  5. Check Network/ Metered Connection
    Go to Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi
Select your connected network and check if it is marked as a Metered connection. VPNs or metered connections can block push notification traffic.

  6. Third-Party Security Software
Antivirus or endpoint security tools may block background notification services.
Whitelist OneAuth in your security software settings, or temporarily disable the tool to test.

  7. Corrupted Notification Database
If notifications still don’t appear, try restarting Windows Explorer or resetting the Action Center via PowerShell.

  8. Firewall/ VPN/ Proxy
Firewalls, VPNs, or system-wide proxies can block push services.
Whitelist OneAuth and required notification services in your firewall/VPN/proxy settings (or contact your IT admin if you’re on a corporate network).

  9. Device Hardening (IT-managed devices)
On company-managed devices, IT policies (GPO, MDM, or registry settings) may restrict notifications or background activity. Contact your IT administrator to review these policies and whitelist OneAuth.
    1. GPO path
gpedit.msc → User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar → Notifications
    2. Registry key
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PushNotifications
watchOS (Apple watch)
  1. Enable Notifications
Go to Apple Watch app (iPhone) → Notifications → OneAuth and enable Mirror iPhone Alerts.
For more information on Apple Watch notifications, refer to the Apple Watch User Guide and Apple Watch Notifications.

  2. Check Focus/DND
If Do Not Disturb or Focus is enabled on your iPhone, it also applies to your Apple Watch. Turn it off or allow OneAuth as an exception.

  3. Check Connectivity
Make sure your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Notifications will not be delivered to the watch if the connection is interrupted.

  4. Low Power Mode
If Low Power Mode is enabled on your Apple Watch, background notifications may be restricted. Disable it to receive pushes consistently.
Wear OS (Android watch)
  1. Enable App Notifications
On your paired phone, go to Wear OS app  Notifications and ensure OneAuth is allowed.

  2. Check Watch Settings
On your Wear OS watch, go to Settings → Apps & Notifications → App Notifications and confirm OneAuth notifications are enabled.

  3. Do Not Disturb
If DND is enabled on your watch, push notifications will be silenced. Turn it off or whitelist OneAuth.

  4. Check Connectivity
Ensure your watch is properly synced with your phone over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Interrupted connections may block push delivery.

  5. Battery Optimization
Some watches restrict background activity in power-saving modes. Check Settings → Battery and disable optimization for OneAuth.

Still not receiving notifications?

If you're still unable to receive notifications, try using an alternative sign-in mode such as Time-based OTP or QR code. You can also use Smart Sign-in to approve sign-ins directly without waiting for push notifications.
