How to create contacts in Zoho Campaigns?

In Zoho Campaigns, you can create contacts manually, via import, sync, using signup forms and via API. In this document, we'll learn in detail about how to create contacts manually.

How do you create contacts manually?

You can either add individual or multiple contacts manually. When you access the Contacts module, you'll observe that a few contacts would be pre-created. You can use them to test. If you don't need them, you can delete them. Once you've deleted the test contacts, you'll see the home page of contacts as below:

To add individual contact

  1. From the Navigation Toolbar to the left, click Audience and select Contacts.

  2. Click the down arrow beside the Import Contacts button at the top-right and choose Add New Contact(s).
  3. Provide data for basic fields like Contact Email, First Name, Last Name, Mobile, and Country in the table.
  4. Choose the Subscription type (Marketing or Non-Marketing), Topics they're interested in, the lawful basis for communication, and the mailing list to which they need to be associated.
  5. If needed, you can associate tags to your contact.
  6. You can also create topics, lists, and tags when you're creating contacts. Type the name of the topic, list, or tag in their respective fields, then click the Create
    button that appears as soon as you type.

  7. Click the Add button at the bottom to save the contact.

To add multiple contacts   

Follow the same steps for creating an individual contact, then just keep adding the details of the contacts in subsequent rows of the table. If you need to add more than five contacts, click the + icon present just below the table to add one more row. You can have a maximum of 20 such rows.

    ● Either the Contact Email or Mobile needs to be filled without which you can't create a contact.
    ● Ensure you're entering valid email address and mobile number for your contacts.
    ● The Lawful basis for communication field will only appear when creating contacts if you enable GDPR Compliance under Settings -> Consent and Privacy -> Compliance Settings.
    ● A maximum of 20 contacts can be manually added at once. If you want to add more, you can import them.

When can you add contacts manually? 

If you want to create a single contact or at least five contacts quickly, you can use this option if the import file isn't readily available. But, each contact will have the same subscription type, topic and list associations.
