An SMS template must be assigned for each template type to deliver notifications to portal users, which can be switched to a different template if required.
2.1 Assign templates
Assign SMS templates to a portal to define the message content sent to portal users for each template type.
To assign templates to a portal:
- Click Portal under DEPLOY in the left pane of the Zoho Creator admin dashboard and select the required portal. If no portals exist, create a new portal before proceeding.
- Navigate to the SMS Notifications tab in the top bar and click Assign.

Select the required template for each type from the dropdown list of approved SMS templates. These are reusable messages configured and approved for different portal notifications in the Operations module. Once selected, click Assign.
The selected templates are now assigned to the portal and will be triggered when portal users or admins perform the corresponding action.
Alternatively, specific templates can be assigned to multiple portals at a time from SMS Templates in Operations.
2.2 Switch templates
Switch the SMS templates assigned to a portal to replace existing templates with new ones for any SMS notifications triggered henceforth.
To switch templates:

- Navigate to the SMS Notifications tab in the top bar.

- Hover over an assigned SMS template and click Switch to change the existing one to another approved template.

- Select a different template for the required type from the dropdown list of approved SMS templates and click Switch.

The selected template replaces the previously assigned template and will be triggered when portal users or admins perform the corresponding action.
Alternatively a template can be switched for multiple portals at a time from SMS Templates in the Operations module.
