Copy Customization

Copy Customization

This document provides an overview of Zoho CRM's copy customization feature.

For instructions on how to use it, please check Using Copy Customization.

Tailoring your CRM to match different industries and situations can be a real game-changer, but it often comes with a hefty price tag in terms of time, money, and specialized skills.

CRM environments are often tweaked and improved over time to finally arrive at a robustly configured solution. Such a solution usually includes:
  1. Industry-specific modules
  2. Optimal use of workflow rules to automate tasks
  3. Fully-configured blueprints to run your internal processes
  4. Clearly defined profiles, and so on

Copy Customization is a no-cost, no-code tool in Zoho CRM that enables you to send and receive complete CRM configurations
without the need for custom code.

Notes
Copy Customization does not copy data from one CRM account to another. To copy data between two Zoho CRM orgs, please check out Migrating Data Between Zoho CRM Accounts.

Glossary
  1. Complete CRM configuration/pre-configured CRM environment: The set of configured features in a customized CRM, not including CRM data.
  2. Target account: The CRM org that needs to be customized. This is usually a new CRM org or a lightly customized one.
  3. Source account: The CRM org whose configuration is copied to the target account. This is usually a fully customized setup used by a business or an implementation service provider.
  4. Copy customization key: A unique key that serves to identify the target account. It's generated and sent from the target account and transmitted to the source account, and is valid for 24 hours after the time of generation.

Scenarios

  1. Instead of configuring their CRM from scratch, businesses can receive a pre-configured CRM environment from a successful organization or implementation provider in their industry. This gives them immediate access to industry-specific modules and tested processes while also saving them time, money, and effort.
  2. Businesses can design a comprehensive and optimized CRM environment and easily share this standardized setup with new regional branches, departments, or other sub-divisions. This ensures that customer data and interactions are managed uniformly, thereby providing a consistent experience to customers and employees.
  3. Implementation service providers can reuse customizations as-is, or use them as a foundation to build upon for future implementation work across multiple clients.

How does it work?

Copying customization from one CRM to another is straightforward:
  1. The admin of the target account generates a unique, temporary key and shares it with the admin of the source account.
  2. Using this key, the admin of the source account sends its customization to the target account.
  3. The admin of the target account approves this received customization. Once approved, the target account is automatically configured based on the received customization.
  4. Once this is complete, the target account will resemble the source account in its configurations.
Notes
The target account generates a unique copy customization key. This is valid for 24 hours from the time of generation.
