- What is a Work Type?
Work Types help to handle commonly requested services. You can predefine the template for your field service tasks. Services and related parts can be linked using a Work Type. - What is the Type field in a work order used for? Is this field customizable?
The Type field is used to indicate the nature of the service the work order is being created for. This field has two predefined values Service (for providing among others, repair, installation, or maintenance services) and Inspection (for performing diagnostics tasks).
Consider the example of routine heavy equipment inspection. A work order of type Inspection can be created initially. If any repair is deemed necessary, a related work order of type Service can be created.
This field is not customizable. - How can I service multiple Assets in a single work order?
- You can associate multiple assets to a single (parent) asset. When you create an asset, select a Parent Asset you want to associate with the given asset. The list of all assets related to the parent asset can be seen under the Child Assets related list of the parent asset.
- Associate the parent asset with a work order you create. In the Work Order Details page, click the parent asset.
- E.g. consider a work order for CCTV installation, for which you would be using multiple CCTV cameras. The cameras can be created as child assets for a parent asset and the parent asset can be associated with the work order.
