Critical Feature Gaps Between Zoho Books and Zoho Finance Module in CRM

We are extensively using Zoho Finance Module in our organization because of The Record Sharing feature provided by CRM something thats not possible in Books, we are able to limit what Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Estimates an employee can see based on different rules using that feature, we have completely moved our sales team from Books to Zoho Finance Module.

But there are some limitations and Technical Issues in Zoho Finance Module within the CRM that keeps causing issues for us.

I have gathered and listed most important issues for us.


No Ability to access Zoho Finance Module without Zoho Books access

We are using CRM Data Sharing Rules to Limit what estimates, SOs, POs, Invoices can each employee see in the Zoho Finance Module

But if they just login to Books they can see all the data. If we remove their access of Books, they cannot use Zoho Finance Module as well 

We need to have the ability for employees to be able to access Zoho Finance Module in CRM without access to Books.

Cannot Sync attachments Between Books and Zoho Finance

If there’s an attachment field in Zoho Books it doesn’t appear in Zoho Finance, we cannot sync files between Zoho Finance and Books

In books we can add field level attachments

But it's not possible from Zoho Finance


 Also Record Level attachments are not synced between Books and Zoho Finance 


Account/Customer Owner Doesn’t Sync Automatically

If a new Account is created in CRM, it gets synced with Books, the details get synced except the customer owner.
Why can’t Books automatically assign the account owner as customer owner?

You must go to Books and manually assign the Customer Owner again
This is redundant, frustrating and time consuming.


Company logo is not synced

Company Logo doesn’t get synced between books and Zoho Finance so invoices, sales orders, estimates, purchase orders show image not found error

 In Zoho Finance we get an Image not found error



But the logo can be seen in Zoho Books



Statutes not fully synced

Zoho Finance only syncs a subset of statuses

For example, if a Sales Order is Approved – Zoho Finance just shows it as Draft or Sent, if an Invoice is Overdue, It just shows as Sent, many important statuses are not supported by Zoho Finance

But in the List view Status it will just say Sent, and filters for overdue dont work as well 

Another Example:

Here I have a Sales Order that's approved


But the status will just be Draft



Cannot approve or reject within Zoho Finance

No ability to approve or reject Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Invoices or Estimates within Zoho Finance


Cannot delete records within Zoho Finance

No ability to delete Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Invoices or Estimates within Zoho Finance


No support for Client Script

No ability to add custom validation logic using client script in Zoho Finance Module
