Bring Zoho Shifts Capabilities into Zoho People Shift Module
Hello Zoho People Product Team,
After a deep review of the Zoho People Shift module and a direct comparison with Zoho Shifts, we would like to raise a feature request and serious concern regarding the current state of shift management in Zoho People.
Core Issue
There is no real comparison between the shift capabilities in Zoho People and Zoho Shifts.
While Zoho People is a strong and mature HR platform, its Shift module is significantly outdated and limited, especially when Zoho already offers a far more advanced and well-designed solution in Zoho Shifts.
This creates a fragmented experience where:
Zoho People users cannot rely on the built-in shift module
Zoho One customers are effectively pushed to use another product for proper shift management
Two Zoho products aim to solve the same problem, but at very different quality levels
Key Capabilities Missing in Zoho People (Available in Zoho Shifts)
Among others:
Employee availability (can work / unavailable)
Open shifts employees can opt into
Shift-centric and monthly scheduling views
Employment types (full-time / part-time / casual)
Schedule constraints:
Maximum / minimum hours per week
Maximum days per week
Maximum hours per day
Maximum shifts per day
Minimum rest hours (same day & consecutive days)
And many additional usability and workforce-planning features.
Broader Concern: Zoho vs Zoho
This feels like another example of Zoho products working against each other instead of together.
Similar overlaps exist across the Zoho ecosystem, where:
Multiple teams build parallel solutions
Features are duplicated but unevenly implemented
Customers are left unsure which product is the “right” one
This results in:
Fragmented user experience
Redundant development effort
Increased cost and complexity for customers
Feature Requested
At minimum, Zoho People should not lag behind Zoho Shifts in shift management.
We strongly request one of the following:
Fully upgrade the Zoho People Shift module to include the features, views, and constraints available in Zoho Shifts
orIntegrate Zoho Shifts directly into Zoho People, allowing it to function:
As a native module within Zoho People
And as a standalone product for non zoho people users as it's today.
Either approach would significantly improve the experience and align Zoho’s products instead of having them compete internally.
Zoho People can be an excellent choice for organizations that need HR + workforce management — but only if the shift module is modernized to match existing Zoho shifts capabilities.
We sincerely hope this feature request is evaluated and handled.
