Combine two fields to create new date field, is it possible?

Combine two fields to create new date field, is it possible?

Question - Is there any way to take two fields, Month and Year, and create a true date field in Forms or a Forms document merge with Writer? Example:

Month Field: Jan
Year Field: 2022
Create New Date Field: 01/01/2022

Note: day of the month is irrelevant and can always default to 01

No, I cannot use an actual date field (see history below if interested). I know I can do this outside of Forms/Writer but would prefer not to if at all possible due to considerable time investment for what's already in place and the time that would be required to change everything.

Thanks for any help.

Daniel

History - We have a Zoho Form that includes several pseudo "date" fields. In constructing the form I was told our applicants may not know the exact date for some of the questions and that we only needed the Month/Year. With that in mind I created the date fields and included hints/instructions to only match the Month/Year and that the exact day was not important. I was told that would be to complicated/confusing for those filling out the application and it must be Month/Year only. I informed everyone that wasn't possible as a date field and I would have to cobble something together. So I did.

I created drop downs such as Month of Diagnosis, with months of the year, and Year of Diagnosis, with year options as appropriate for each question. Though not pretty, this satisfied their desire for Month/Year only and was fine for everything they wanted/needed at the time.

I took that form and created a document merge with Writer that included all of the information from the form and automated a rubric for scoring. I spent a good deal of time creating conditions to boil down a form with 170+ fields/choices and untold combinations to 24 scores. There are also other automations that include saving copies to a MS SharePoint site, creating direct links to each document, and emailing various parties with info and links. Everything was good...until they came back and asked for calculations based on those "dates". So now I need a true date to be able to count time, specifically months. BTW - I have to leave the date fields as they are, drop downs with Month/Year.

I haven't been able to find a way to do this via Forms or Forms/Writer document merge. I know this can be done in another program but I would like to avoid having to completely rework everything I've already done.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Cheers,

Daniel
