Introducing the Required Skills field for Job Openings

Introducing the Required Skills field for Job Openings

We're excited to announce a new enhancement to the Job Openings module - the Required Skills field, formerly known as the Skillset field. This enhancement brings improved functionality and a fresh UI to help you define your job requirements effortlessly.

With the Required Skills field, you can now easily specify the skills that are required for a particular job opening. Upon entering a skill name, you are presented with two tabs - Relevant Skills and Skillset.

The Relevant Skills tab displays a list of skills that are related to the keyword you entered, which makes it easy for you to identify skills that are closely related or similar to the ones you have in mind. This helps you to comprehensively specify the skills required for the job role.

The Skillset tab, on the other hand, displays skillsets related to the keyword you entered. This allows you to select predefined skillsets that encompass multiple skills, making it quicker and more convenient to specify a group of skills that are required for a particular job. Zoho Recruit gives you five skillsets by default, which you can search and select skills from and edit using this sub-tab.

The Required Skills field gives you access to search and select skills from our back-end skill library of 40,000+ skills. This helps you do the following:
  • Control what type of candidate profiles are matched with the job
  • Pick and choose skills from your Skillsets and create nuanced job roles.
We invite you to experience this enhancement and take advantage of its improved functionality to make your hiring process more effective and efficient. Get started today and find the best-fitting candidates for your job openings with ease!

Important Note:

This update removes the old Skillset field and adds a new field called Required Skills. This is because we had to completely rethink and build the field from scratch to introduce new functionalities. The new "Required Skills" field offers all the functionalities previously available in the "Skillset" field, along with additional features to streamline the process of specifying skill requirements for a job.

Worry not, as your existing skill data from the old Skillset field has been moved to the new Required Skills field to prevent data loss.

If you have utilized the old "Skillset" field in the following places, make the corrections detailed below;
  • Reports & Analytics: If you have created reports using the Skillset field in Zoho Recruit or using the Zoho Analytics integration, you will need to manually update those configurations and replace it with the new "Required Skills" field.

  • Filter & Rule Criteria: If you have used the Skillset field to specify criteria while creating Custom Views, Workflow Rules, Blueprints, etc., you will need to manually update those configurations and replace it with the new "Required Skills" field.

  • Layout Rules: If you have used Skillset as the primary field that controls the rule, it will become ineffective as the field has been removed.

  • Workflows Updates: If you have configured a field update action for the Skillset field, the changes you have configured will not be reflected as the field has been removed.

  • API Calls: If you use APIs to work with Job Openings, you will need to replace the the old API name (Skillset) to the new one (Required_Skills) wherever required.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in updating your configurations to reflect the changes. If you have any questions or require assistance with this transition, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@zohorecruit.com.

We hope you enjoy this new enhancement in Zoho Recruit and find it beneficial for your hiring process. For more information on Skills and Skillsets, check out our help documentation here.

Team Zoho Recruit
