Tip #5: Setting access rights at the subfolder level

Tip #5: Setting access rights at the subfolder level

Hello everyone,

We hope you're finding our WorkDrive Tips and Tricks series useful.

For today's tip, we'll teach you how to assign higher subfolder permissions to Team Folder members.

Team Folders helps you avoid the drawbacks of traditional file sharing. Save time and effort by creating a Team Folder and adding members to the folder with different permission levels. This makes it easier for teams to collaborate seamlessly and securely.

What happens when someone who does not have Editor permission needs to contribute to a particular file within a project?

We have the perfect solution for this situation.

Zoho WorkDrive allows you to give higher permissions to specific people for files or folders within a Team Folder. This means a team member can have a Viewer role at the Team Folder level and also possess Editor permission for a particular file or subfolder within the Team Folder.

Here's how to do it:
  1. Right-click on the file or folder and select Share. Alternatively, you can select the file and click the  button in the top menu bar.

  2. Enter the email address of your team member and assign an access permission.
To send a customized message along with your mail notification, click Add a private message.

  3. Click Share.
Now, this member has a Viewer role at the Team Folder level, but has an Editor role for this particular subfolder.
