Bad change: Zoho Notebook Android app requiring Google Play Store login

I have been a Zoho user for a decade or so, and a One subscriber for several years. There are always areas for improvement, but on the whole, I've been quite happy with it.

A big part of my choice to go wtih Zoho is that I value data privacy, and try not to give Google (and the other behemoths) much foothold in my life. I have disabled all Google apps on my phone, and use other solutions.

I'm extremely disappointed that the Notebook app now cannot be used without being logged into the Google Play Store (this changed several months ago, and hasn't reverted). This is a major problem for people who chose Zoho to get away from Google. Surely there's no reason why this needs to be included in the app?

It's a big enough problem for me that I've stopped using Notebook. I've only had this on a couple of apps before, and each time, it's caused me to stop using that service.

This post is to:
- raise this as an issue, as I can't see any other posts about it
- seek to know why this has been introduced
- strongly request it be changed, so people can use Zoho without Google
