Zoho Sheet 3.0 - New User Interface, Filters, Conditional Formatting and More

Zoho Sheet 3.0 - New User Interface, Filters, Conditional Formatting and More

We are pleased to announce the release of Zoho Sheet 3.0 with a host of new features.

The first thing you will notice as soon as you login is the user interface revamp. Zoho Sheet has undergone a major facelift and is now consistent with our word processor, Zoho Writer, and our presentation software, Zoho Show. We now have what we call the MenuTab, which is a combination of Tabs, Menus and Toolbars. To open your existing files, you will have to click on File and then choose Open from the File menu. At the bottom of this post are some screenshots of our new interface.

Here are the new features that are available with this release:
  1. Filters:
Add filters to your spreadsheet to slice and dice your data.
    Learn more about Filters

  2. Conditional Formatting:
Format cells based on the desired criteria. You can even use Formulas to define the rule thereby expanding your possibilities.

  3. Format Cells:
Choose from a variety of formats (number, currency, date, etc.) for your cells including your custom formats.

  4. Improved Printing Capability:
Set print options and preview it before printing.

  5. Solver:
A what-if analysis tool used for optimization.

  6. Find and Replace:
Find the string that you are looking for and optionally replace it with the desired string.

  7. Function auto-completion:
Suggests matching functions as you type a formula and provides a quick reference.

  8. Instant Sum, Average, Count:
Calculates the Sum / Average / Count of the selected cells and the result is readily available on the status bar.
Over the next few days, we will write detailed posts about each new feature.

Other Enhancements:

  • Zoho Sheet now takes you to the cell you were last on while loading your spreadsheets.

  • New color options - 'No Fill' for cell background color and 'Default Color' for the text color - have been added.

  • Easier copying to clipboard. A single copy button (and shortcut) to copy and paste data within the spreadsheet as well as to copy and paste data outside of the spreadsheet. The 'Copy to Clipboard' menu item on the context menu is now removed as it is redundant.

  • 'Click to Edit' button on public spreadsheets has been removed. One can interact with your public spreadsheets as soon as it loads.

Limitations and Withdrawal of Functionality:
  • Internet Explorer versions 6 and 7 are no longer supported. You can upgrade your browser to the more recent versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Apple Safari.

  • We have now removed the Tabular Data setting while importing CSV files as we feel it is no longer needed.

  • You won't be able to share individual worksheets with others even though you will be able to share the whole workbook. If you had already shared individual worksheets, they will continue to work as usual and won't reveal the entire workbook to your collaborators. We will bring this up again in a future update.

  • You can no longer leave a comment on the spreadsheet as a whole. However you do have the option of inserting comments on cells.

Here is the slideshow of screenshots depicting the options and tools available under each tab. The toolbar buttons to access the new features have been highlighted as well. View the presentation below in full screen for better clarity.

Refer our New Features page for more information on this update.

We hope you will find these new features useful for your regular use. Feel free to post your comments and suggestions so that we can keep improving.
