E-Way Bill Generation and Custom Button Requirement in Stock Transfer Module in ZOHO Books India

We would like to provide further clarification and highlight a few operational challenges we're currently facing : 

we are handling stock transfers between branches/warehouses within the same state under the same GSTIN. As per government rules, E-Way Bill is mandatory if the transfer value exceeds ₹50,000, but E-Invoice is not required in this case.

We also connected with a Chartered Accountant from Zoho's partner network who advised generating an E-Way Bill via a Delivery Challan. However, this presents a few workflow challenges for us:

🔍 Current Issues Faced:

  1. No direct conversion from Stock Transfer to Delivery Challan:

    • Similar to how we can convert a Sales Order into a Sales Invoice, we request a feature to convert a Stock Transfer directly into a Delivery Challan.

    • This would save us from re-entering the same data manually, which is inefficient.

  2. Delivery Challan impacts "Committed Stock":

    • When we create a delivery challan manually for the stock transfer, the stock appears in the committed stock, which forces us to generate an invoice.

    • However, since this is an internal transfer (not a sale), invoicing is not required or valid as per compliance.

  3. Manual process overhead:

    • Right now, we are forced to manually create a Delivery Challan just to generate the E-Way Bill and then delete it afterward because the actual stock transfer is already recorded in the Stock Transfer module.

    • This leads to data duplication and extra work.

✅ Requested Solutions:

  1. Enable E-Way Bill Generation from Stock Transfer module directly.

    • Only for internal use, without e-invoicing.

    • Should include required fields such as document type: "Stock Transfer" and sub-transaction type: "For Own Use".

  2. Allow Custom Buttons in Stock Transfer Module:

    • This would help us generate documents like:

      • Packing List

      • Box Labels

      • Cover Stickers

    • These are essential for logistics and dispatch documentation.

  3. Introduce a shortcut/action:

    • Create an option like “Convert Stock Transfer to Delivery Challan” with a checkbox to indicate "For E-Way Bill Purpose Only".

    • This challan should not impact stock again or show as committed stock, since it's already transferred.
