We are here to introduce the much-awaited Bin Locations now in Zoho Inventory. But before we dive into the feature specifications, we'd like to appreciate your patience and support through the time. Note: The Bin Locations feature is available in the Premium (2000 bins per warehouse) and Enterprise (5000 bins per warehouse) plans of Zoho Inventory. You can extend this limit by purchasing the Advanced Warehouse Operations add-on. If you’re in a different plan, you can upgrade to one of the supported plans or purchase the add-on.
With Bin Locations, you can create bins and easily identify and access the items from every nook and corner of your warehouse. To use this feature, all you have to do is enable it, create bin locations, and then use them in transactions. Let's get started!
Enable Bin Locations
Before you enable Bin Locations in Zoho Inventory you'll have to ensure you check the below points.
- If Batch Number Tracking and Serial Number Tracking options are enabled;
- Ensure Inventory Tracking Preference is set to Packages, Purchase Receives, and Return Receipts.
- Mandate serial number or batch tracking in transactions option is enabled.
To enable Bin Locations: Go to Settings > Warehouses. Click the Gear icon in the warehouse you want to enable bin locations and click Enable Bin Locations.

You cannot enable bin locations for warehouses with existing transactions. Instead, you can create a new warehouse and enable bin locations in it. However, if you want to enable it in warehouses with existing transactions, you can write to
support@zohoinventory.com with your organisation details and we will help you enable it.
Let's Start Creating Bins
Your warehouse will be split into multiple zones. Each zone will be further split into levels. The final level will be the bin in which your items will be placed.
By default, each warehouse will have two zones: a receiving zone and a packing zone. You can further create multiple zones based on your warehouse layout and business needs.

Note: Under each zone, you can create up to five levels to create bins.
Map Items to Bins
Now that you've enabled and created bins, you'll have to enable the bin option for items. To enable, you'll have to go to the item creation or edit page and select the Track Inventory for this item and Track Bin Location for this item options.
There might be a few items that you don't want to add to bins. In such cases, you don't have to enable bins for those items, and the bin selection will not be available for those items in the line item.
Associating Items to Bins in Transactions
While creating transactions, you can now easily add the purchased items to the bins and pick the items from the respective bins during sales. The bin selection will be displayed in the line item of the transactions. For transfer orders, both the source bin and the destination bin will be displayed in the line item.

Notes:
- Bins can be associated only with transactions in which physical stock is affected.
- You cannot disable Bin Locations, once you've started creating transactions with bins in it.
