Zoho Campaigns - Why do contacts have owners?

When searching for contacts in Zoho Campaigns I am sometimes caught out when I don't select the filter option "Inactive users". So it appears that I have some contacts missing, until I realise that I need to select that option.


Campaigns Support have just advised my colleague that contact ownership cannot be reassigned. 

So this left me wondering... what is the purpose of this feature?

Why not just show contacts? What value is this adding for me as a user?

Could you consider changing the name of the filter to "Added by" (as I assume that's what is meant by owner?) and set the default to show all contacts based on all active and all inactive users?

What type of users navigate to All Contacts > Marketing Contacts and really don't want to see contacts who were uploaded by users who don't work in the business anymore? Surely anyone going to that list wants to see all contacts?

The current defaults just add more clicks and confusion for new users, who become frustrated that the Campaigns isn't intuitive and this reduces the chances that they'll recommend the app or keep using it.
