Announcing IMPORTRANGE and cross-spreadsheet linking in Zoho Sheet

Announcing IMPORTRANGE and cross-spreadsheet linking in Zoho Sheet

We are pleased to announce the much-requested IMPORTRANGE function in Zoho Sheet. With this function, you can now link or refer to cell ranges across spreadsheets in an instant.

Refer across spreadsheets

You can use IMPORTRANGE just like any other predefined function in Zoho Sheet. Start with an equal sign, select the function, and fill in the parameters. For this function, the source spreadsheet link and the desired cell range to import are given as input.

Once you allow access to the source spreadsheet, the data will get filled in the formula cell and spill into the adjacent cells based on the cell range imported. The data gets updated automatically whenever there's a change in the source sheet—no need for manual refreshing or recalculation!

Manage linked spreadsheets

You can also track and manage all the spreadsheets linked to the current spreadsheet file. If you delete a linked spreadsheet, the related formulas will return an error.

Who can access

Everyone with access to the spreadsheet containing the formula in question can view the populated data. Those with edit permission can also use the formula to bring in data from the linked spreadsheet. This is permitted as long as the spreadsheet remains linked or the person who created the link has access to the source spreadsheet. Additionally, people with edit access can also link spreadsheets they have access to.
