You've planned and taken some great pictures to post on your feed before you break for the weekend. But as you upload your images or video and see the final post, something looks off. Has this ever happened to you or have you ever wondered why your media looks different in quality from what you actually uploaded?
This is an everyday issue being faced by a lot of individuals as they post to their social networks, whether directly to the network or through third-party social media management applications. It can happen because Instagram and other networks process the media from their end at the time of publishing. But, the overall essence of your post seems to diminish when this reduction in quality happens. In today's post, let's see some best practices that we can follow to ensure there's no compromise in the quality of media we upload to our social profiles from third-party applications like Zoho Social.
Use a high-quality camera for achieving a good visual output
Good quality images are really important for your social media profiles as they form the face of the advertising or marketing activities that you're aiming to accomplish. Great photographs increase the engagement for your posts a lot while also improving the aesthetics of your fold. For visually rich platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X, this plays a major role in getting you the reach you wish to achieve through the post. You'll also give the customers a great start to visualize how your product or services looks and feels. Use a good phone or digital camera to click your pictures and make sure you upload them as such, without any compression to retain the quality.
Upload high resolution media
For media that represents your brand and its identity, there should be no compromise in the resolution of the images or videos you upload to social media. Ensure that you are aware of the media specifications of each social network so you can keep up with the current guidelines and resize or improve your media to suit better to the different networks. We've noticed that PNG images when uploaded to Instagram, get converted into JPG. This processing could be the reason why images look blur or lower in quality. So it's advisable to upload high-quality JPG images to ensure that there's no processing from the network's end, and hence no loss in quality. As for videos, you can upload a 720p or 1080p video directly to Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Understand media specifications before you upload
When you understand the media guidelines for each network before you plan to upload them, you can ensure that the media is resized accordingly and can avoid any further compression from the network's end. Through Zoho Social's Image Editor feature, you can edit an image by applying filters or any other enhancements, and also choose the specific crop size readily available for networks like X, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Additionally, at the time of uploading, Zoho Social also displays warning or error messages with regards to the media uploaded and specifies why it's not suitable and for which network. Based on this information, you can resize your media and upload it accordingly to get the quality retained on your live posts.
