Upcoming Updates to the Employees Module in Zoho Payroll (US Edition)

We've made a couple of updates to the Employees module in Zoho Payroll (latest version of the US edition). These changes will go live today.



While creating an employee

Currently, the Compensation Details section is part of the Basic Details step, where you enter the employee's compensation type (hourly or salaried), amount, and pay period.

With this update, Compensation Details will move out as a separate step in the employee creation flow. The updated sequence will be:
  1. Basic Details
  2. Compensation Details (newly added)
  3. Personal Details
  4. Tax Details
  5. Payment Details

In the new Compensation Details step, you can enter the employee's compensation type, amount, and pay period, and also assign the following to the employee:
  1. Benefits
  2. Deductions
  3. Sick Leave Policy
  4. Vacation Leave Policy

On the employee details page

Currently, in the Compensation tab, the employee's compensation type (Salaried or Hourly) cannot be updated. With this update, you'll now be able to update the employee's compensation type any time.

Updated screen where you can switch the employee's compensation type from Hourly to Salaried directly from the Compensation details tab.


However, when you update the employee's compensation type from Hourly to Salaried, multiple pay rates (if configured) will be removed, since additional pay rates are only supported for hourly employees. Only the primary role and its pay rate will be retained.






These updates make employee compensation management more streamlined, both while creating an employee profile and while updating employee details.
