What Does This Page Cover?
Learn how you can access countless ready-to-use widgets available as extensions in Zoho Marketplace that can drastically reduce your development time.
Availability
Extensions:
- Can be installed only in the paid plans of Creator.
- Can only be installed and managed by the super admin, while other users can view and access them.
- Are available in the United States (.com), Europe (.eu), India (.in), and Australia (.au) data centers.
Overview
Extensions are software addons that can be installed in your application to provide additional functionality or features. They allow users to customize their applications and enhance the user experience with new additions.
Extensions in Creator
In Zoho Creator, an extensions can be installed once and used in multiple places across applications. These are developed by different Zoho users to cater to a variety of unique requirements using Zoho Developer platform and can be consumed by anyone who has a Creator account. Zoho Marketplace can serve as a central location where a user can explore and install extensions.
Note: Currently, only widgets are supported as extensions for Zoho Creator.
Business use case
Let's consider a business situation in which the extensions can be used.
- Use of the organizational treemap extension from Marketplace: You can visualize your company's organizational structure in your employee management Creator application. An organizational treemap can be used in such cases where the hierarchical data is visualized in a tree-like structure, using nested rectangles to represent the different categories and subcategories of data. You can now install it from Zoho Marketplace in a few simple steps, saving you time and effort.
Navigation Guide for Installing Extensions
- For ease of access, Zoho Marketplace is embedded in Creator under the Operations section, from which you can search and install your desired extensions. After installing the extension, it will be listed in the Installed Extensions section.
Pre-requisites
To use an extension, you need to be on Creator 6 paid plan subscription to be able to install and use extensions in the Creator application.
Limitations
- The maximum number of widgets and extensions that can be installed in a Creator account collectively is 50. For instance, if you have already created 25 widgets in your Creator account, you can now install up to 25 extensions.
- This feature doesn't have multi-DC support yet. For example, an extension built and published by a US DC developer can only be accessed and installed by a US DC user.
- A widget can be used only once in a Page but can be used in as many Pages as required.
- The exported .ds file of an application will not include the extensions used in it.
