Creating prefilled disabled form fields can be useful for various reasons, such as displaying information that is already known but should not be editable by the form respondent.
You may have certain information that remains constant (such as name, email address, etc.) across multiple form submissions. For example, displaying pre-existing employee details in a form for reference, without allowing edits. Prefilling and disabling the field allows you to display this static information without the risk of accidental changes.
- If you have constant field values to be prefilled in a form, generating a prefilled form URL is a convenient way to prepopulate the fields. Check out the steps to generate a prefilled form URL. For example, in an Employee leave request form, the Company Name field has a constant value Zylker.
- If you wish to prefill information filled in one form to another form to which the respondent is redirected, check out the steps with an example here.
- If you want to prefill your form with data from your Zoho CRM account, check out the steps here.
To restrict your respondents from entering data into a prefilled field,
- In your form builder, go to the field Properties pane.
- Under Visibility, select the Disable Field option.
