What is Notebook for Students?
Notebook for Students is a dedicated plan exclusively for students, giving you advanced note-taking tools at no cost. It is designed around the real demands of student life: capturing lectures, organizing assignments, meeting deadlines, and working with classmates.
Once activated on your account, the plan unlocks a powerful set of features on top of the standard free (Essential) plan, including extended storage, write-access sharing, custom recurring reminders, longer audio recordings, and more.
How to Get the Student Plan
Students can use their institutional or educational email address to sign up for the plan. If you are unable to activate the Student Plan using your educational email address, you can contact Zoho Notebook Support to request access.
The student plan is valid for one year from activation. It does not renew automatically. Contact support before your subscription expires and submit updated proof of your continued student status to extend it for another year.
When your plan expires, your account reverts to the standard free (Essential) plan. All your notes remain safe and accessible. However, you will lose access to student-specific features. If your data exceeds the 2 GB free plan limit, you will not be able to upload new content until you renew or upgrade to Notebook Pro. You can still view the existing data and access it.

Extended storage - 5 GB
Store up to 5 GB of notes, audio recordings, scanned documents, and file attachments. That is more than double the 2 GB available on the free plan.
Upload files up to 1 GB
Attach large files directly to your note cards, PDFs, presentations, lab reports, and more. 1 GB is the highest file upload limit available in Notebook.
Share notebooks with Write access
Give classmates or teachers write access to a shared notebook so everyone can create and edit note cards inside it. Perfect for group projects and shared study notes.
Set reminders to repeat on any schedule you define daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly at the exact time and day that works for you.
Record audio up to 60 minutes
Record full class lectures or study sessions in a single audio note card. Replay them alongside your written notes to fill in anything you missed.
Premium notebook covers
Access hand-drawn premium covers created by Zoho's in-house artists, in addition to all default options. Personalize your notebooks to make them easy to identify at a glance. Users can also upload a custom image as a notebook cover. Covers can be changed at any time and are synced across devices.
Smart tags and advanced search
Notebook suggests relevant tags based on what you write. You can also search for text inside uploaded images and documents using object and text detection.
The Notebook for Students plan also includes access to Notebook AI, allowing you to use AI-powered note-taking tools to study more efficiently.
With Notebook AI, you can:

Pin important note cards, like your timetable or a task checklist as widgets on your mobile home screen. No need to open the app.

- 100 versions per note card - review and restore any earlier version of a note card at any time.
- Email-in notes - forward emails from teachers or your institution to add@zohonotebook.app and they are automatically saved as note cards.

Yes, absolutely. You can view, create, and edit notes entirely offline on any device. The moment you reconnect to the internet, all changes sync automatically across your account. This is particularly useful in areas with poor Wi-Fi or when you're studying on the go.
Yes. Zoho Notebook supports importing from Evernote, OneNote and Google Keep, with more apps being added over time. So if you're switching from another app, you don't have to start from scratch just bring your existing notes along.
Your notes are always safe. If your plan expires, you can continue using Zoho Notebook on the standard free plan or upgrade to Notebook Pro. Your data remains accessible and is never deleted. We recommend exporting or backing up critical notes before your student email expires, just in case.
Yes. You can share individual note cards or entire notebooks with classmates. Choose between read-only access (great for distributing class notes) or edit access (for collaborative group projects). You can share with up to 50 people privately and share up to 50 note cards with your organization.
Yes. All your notes are stored on Zoho's encrypted servers. Zoho does not sell your data or show ads in its products. You can also add an extra layer of protection by locking your notebooks with Face ID or Touch ID on supported mobile devices. Zoho is GDPR-compliant and follows industry-standard security practices.
