Configure Invite URL Parameters

Configure Invite URL Parameters

Overview

Add parameters to your invite URL to pass respondent details such as name, ID, or email directly to the survey. This helps pre-fill survey fields and track responses by individual respondent. Use merge tags from your email service to assign parameter values dynamically.

How to configure invite URL parameters

  1. Select the survey and click Builder option from the left pane.
  2. Go to the Publish tab.
  3. Click Add New Collector.
  4. In the Email Invites by Zoho Services section, click Continue.
  5. In the Zoho CRM/ Recruit/ Campaigns/Desk/SalesIQ/Billing sub-section, click Create
  6. Click Create in the Inline Email section.

  1. Select a question from the Question dropdown.

  1. Add a name in the Parameter name field. If you haven't created any custom variables yet, click Create Custom Variables. The custom variables you create will get listed here. For example, if you want to send the updated records to a contact module, you need to create a custom variable "zs_contacts" and set direct value to ${Contacts.Contact Id}.
  2. Select a parameter value appropriate to the parameter name you selected. You can select Direct value and enter more merge tags as parameter values as well.
  3. Click + to add parameters.
  4. Click X to delete a parameter.
  5. Click Generate HTML. The HTML is  generated.
  6. The question preview is available in the Inline Email section.
Notes
Note:
Zoho Survey supports standard merge tags as parameter values for each of these email distribution services. However, all of these services will have more merge tags that you can insert in the templates by using direct value. These merge tags will be replaced with the parameter values assigned to the custom variables. For example, take a look at the list of merge tags Zoho CRM and Zoho Campaigns support.
If you have only one question in your survey, you can select Settings > Skip the first page if all the questions are prepopulated checkbox to prevent your respondents from getting redirected to a new page to submit their response.

  1. Click Copy to copy the survey question.
  2. Click Copy HTML to copy the HTML code generated.
  3. Click Configure & Regenerate to add parameters or change the survey question to be embedded and regenerate the code again.
Notes
Note:
Inline email only supports a specific set of questions to be embedded in an email: Multiple Choice (one answer and many answers), Rating Scale (Star, Likert, and Weighted choice), Dropdown, Boolean (Yes/No), and Net Promoter Score.
