Cycle time trend report
Cycle time refers to the timeframe of an item having started work on it and its eventual completion. Kanban reports in Zoho Sprints use this metric to measure the time taken for the actual work performed on a particular tasks. Learn more
This graphic report is based on the item types and the time each item type takes for completion of the respective items.
How to read the cycle time trend report?
This report shows the weekly trend of the cycle time for each item type: Stories, Tasks, and Bugs.
- X-axis denotes the end dates of the items by week.
- Y-axis denotes the average cycle time of the items that were completed in a particular week.
- Each item type is represented as an individual line.
- Each item type line plots the cycle time based on the items completed for a particular week.
Example
Let's assume you are a mobile app solution provider. Your organization caters to clients with custom solutions who look for widgets to be built for the purpose of streamlining their business. Your kanban backlog and board tracks all the items that your team is working on. These items could be user stories, bugs, or tasks. You need to assess your organization's performance on those items based on their progress and completion.
Your cycle time trend report helps you monitor the weekly cycle time trend based on the time that each work item type spends on the board until completion. That is, you can understand which type of item takes the most time and also figure out the average duration taken to complete items in a particular week.

- You can get the cycle time trend for the preferred date range.
- You can observe the trend of the time taken for completion for each item type.
These insights will direct you towards identifying problem areas and taking corrective measures.
Report table
The table below the report provides you with a summary view of the details plotted on the graph or chart. The table captures the weekly date range and cycle time for each task type. Apart from this, there is a tabular view of the work items within the mentioned period along with their cycle times.
Access cycle time trend report
To access the report:
- Go to the kanban project.
- Select the Reports module.
- Select Cycle Time Trend report type.
- Specify a date range to generate the report.
- Click the Get button. The report for the specified period will be generated.
- Hover over the plotted points to view details.
- Click the plotted points or scroll down to navigate to the detailed table for the report.
You can export the reports in PDF and PNG formats for external use.
You can schedule exports to automate periodic export of the reports. Navigate to the Export History to access the exported files.
