Find files faster with the new and improved search in Zoho Docs

Say, you've been researching and working on a project for a while. You create multiple documents related to it and while you're just about to throw yourself into it, the project gets deferred. Right now, you have the project documents scattered here and there, across multiple folders. However, after a few months, the project is revived, and you are asked to produce the ground work you did. You will definitely have to dig deep, and find those documents, long forgotten. Here is where search by relevance comes to your rescue.


With the search by relevance feature, every time you type in a word in the search box and press Enter, you will see a prioritized list of files, with the files most relevant to your search, appearing at the top. For example, in the case mentioned above, all you have to do is, recollect the project name and some key words related to it, that you may have used in your documents. Searching with these words will deliver a list of all the files containing the search word, in the file name, author's name, file tags or in the content. The order in which the files appear, depends on a specific relevance score, that is highly determined by the presence of the search word in the file name, the author's name, file tags and the frequency of the search word in the contents of the files. Thus, files with higher relevance scores will get preference over those with lesser scores. 

Most of the time, when you search for a file, you may or may not remember the exact file name. Sometimes all you have is just a bunch of words that are sure to be there in the document. At other times, it's pure assumption. It is important for us to bring you the best set of results every time you make a query. Search by relevance maximizes the possibility of finding the exact file you are looking for, when you use the right search words. It is sure to bring you optimal search results, that will help you find files easily and precisely.
