Adding support for font weights, non-standard symbols and more!

Good typography is the key to communicate your ideas in a more well-defined, concise way. We're happy to bring to you some major enhancements in typography in Writer.

In this update, we have provided support for extended font weights, fixed kerning problems, added support for more characters (such as special characters, alternate characters, punctuation, and glyph processing) and much more.

Fonts with extended weights

Writer fonts have been enhanced to make it easy for you apply variants to your text. You can now set different font weights ranging from Thin to Black.  This is helpful while you work on designing a document, a webpage, a logo or a signature.

Note: Font weights will be retained even when the document is downloaded or imported into your Writer account from other cloud drives.

Web Font support in Textbox & Shapes

Your text inside Textbox and Shapes doesn’t have to be boring anymore. Web Fonts are now supported in Watermark, Dropcap, Shapes and Text boxes.

Handling non-standard fonts from Office files

Say you have documents that include non-standard or proprietary fonts like symbols or wingdings. When imported, these special characters might appear as a blank square at times. Writer now replaces these characters with their standard unicode equivalents, preventing any black squares from appearing.

Filter fonts by language

You can now filter fonts by language besides categories like Serif and Handwriting. This makes it easy for you to find fonts relevant to the language chosen.

Enhanced typographic quality

We've updated all our Web Fonts to the latest version, which also fixes the kerning problem that occurred for some users. Updated Web Fonts also extend support for additional characters.

That's all for now!  We hope you find this update useful, and if you have any questions, contact us at support@zohowriter.com

Happy Writing!
