Tip of the week 69 - Secure and reliable practices for email marketing
Being one of the most reliable channels in marketing can be considered as one of the reasons why email marketing is still powerful. However, as email marketers, it is important to keep your contacts safe from all the existing security threats because they trust you and the email marketer in you. So, before you launch an email campaign to your contacts, ensure that you secure their information. Here's what you could do:
1. Choose an appropriate software: There are numerous email marketing tools available right now. Choose a software that can help you authenticate your domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC to make sure that you are not being spammers to your contacts.
2. Email list verification: Buying email lists from other sources might lead you to email addresses that are fake and inactive. These accounts will be mostly targeted by hackers. So, maintain a clean and healthy list of contacts. Also, while sending emails you can inform your recipients to add you as their contact, this is possible by attaching VCards to your emails.
3. Customer data usage: Make sure that you're sending the right information to the right people. Set up topics in order to categorize your emails under different topics so that your customers ensure to choose the relevant topic that they're interested in. By doing this, you're not misusing their data by providing irrelevant information. i.e., you're being clear in your intention. Moreover, be mindful of wiping customer data from your internal storage and devices, after sending out the email campaign.
Email marketing, as we all know, comes with numerous threats particularly during emergency situations like health crisis, natural disasters and many more. Keeping all the email phishing and cyber attacks in mind, it's important to reframe your email marketing tactics for better email security and reliability.

Email Deliverability Tip #3: Seal the deal with the preheader
In the last post, we learned about the subject line. Today we'll be learning about the preheader. A preheader is the short text that follows the subject line in an email. The preheader is designed to hint at what your email message is all about. A good preheader should act as a second subject line and convince your contacts to open the email. Tip of the week 15 - Add subscription-preferences option. Drive more engagement.
If crafting content for emails, getting creatives done, and running email campaigns is your love, then unsubscribes are the heartbreakers. You can save your emails from being unsubscribed/trashed by adding a proper subscription-preferences option in your emails (works best at the time of signup). Giving subscribers the option to choose what they want to receive from you and decide how often (frequency of the emails) your emails should hit their inboxes will increase the reach of your campaigns manifolds.
