This month, we're putting the spotlight on the Record Video and Audio feature.
Imagine you’ve finished creating a detailed presentation for a client, filled with charts, graphs, and important data. You're confident in the content, but you know that some of the concepts are complex and might be difficult for the client to grasp on their own. You won’t be there in person to walk them through it, so you need a way to make sure they fully understand the material.
That’s where this feature comes in handy. You can record both audio and video of yourself explaining the content directly in the Show interface. This saves the time you would otherwise spend navigating between the recording and the presentation software, making your content even more effective.
In this post, we'll cover when to use audio vs. video, and how to insert them into your presentation.
When should you record a video?
Adding a video to your presentation gives it a personal touch. It helps your audience connect with the person behind the content. Consider adding a recorded video at the beginning of your presentation to introduce yourself or your key points. You can also wrap up with a video if you feel it's necessary.
When should you record an audio?
If your slides are already loaded with data, charts, or other visuals, audio might be a better option. This will keep your slides clean and help your audience concentrate on the content.
How do you record a video or an audio?
Recording is easy! Start by clicking on the Media option in the top bar, then click on Audio or Video depending on your needs.
Now you'll be able to view two options as shown in the image above. Click on Record Video or Record Audio to start recording.
While you're recording your video, you can give it a title, pause it, and continue to record. When you're satisfied with the recording, click Insert to add it to the current slide.
Other options
There are two other options you can use when adding an audio or video to your presentation.
Loop Video/Audio: If you want the audio or video to play in a loop on a specific slide, toggle the Loop (In this slide) option in the right panel.
AutoPlay: If you want the video or audio to start automatically when the slide appears, enable AutoPlay.
Recording a video and embedding it into your presentation not only enhances clarity, but also increases the engagement level. It makes your message more relatable, and helps you build a personal connection with your audience. It also shows that you—or your brand (if you're working on a business presentation)—are well-versed in the technology, because this is one of the latest features included in any presentation software.
