Updates to Auto-Upgrade in Zoho Campaigns

Hello everyone,
We've rolled out a new update that slightly modifies how the auto-upgrade option in Zoho Campaigns works. Even if you hit the contact limit, this update ensures that your account is upgraded and that contacts are imported smoothly—without any roadblocks.

Who needs to know about this update?

This update is applicable only to those users who've enabled the auto-upgrade option, which is disabled by default. You can enable it under Settings > Subscription.

How did auto-upgrade work previously?

Previously, if you tried to import contacts after reaching your contact limit and had enabled the auto-upgrade option, you would immediately be upgraded to the next plan based on the number of contacts you were trying to import. However, the charges for the upgrade would only be added to your next billing cycle.

What's new?

After the update:
  • The auto-upgrade will occur only if your payment method associated with Zoho Campaigns is eligible to be charged. For instance, you'll be upgraded to the next plan if your credit card is valid, has a sufficient balance, faces no restrictions from the bank's end, and so on.
  • Once we upgrade your plan, your contacts will be automatically added via a file import or an existing sync. However, charges will be applied immediately and will not be put on hold until your next billing cycle.

What happens if the payment method fails?

If there's an issue with your payment method, such as invalid details, restrictions from your bank, and so on, we'll be unable to upgrade your plan. In such cases:
  • You'll only be able to import contacts within your plan limit.
  • Once you reach the plan limit, contact imports via files or syncs will be stopped.

To import contacts without disruptions, we suggest that you do the following:
