Our project management suite's representatives have been busy socializing with global customers in the USA (Zoholics) and Australia (roadshows). We also had multiple stop overs at our customer’s establishments and were glad to see the efficiency our products added to their work. Our teams have come back with all your requirements and are hard at work analyzing and implementing them into the product.

Zoholics USA 2025

We exhibited Zoho Projects and Zoho Sprints in Zoholics USA this May, and it was an absolute hit! Multiple workshops and sessions were held to educate our users about the nuances of both products. We received a tremendous response, making this an engaging session for the participants.

We conducted roadshows in Melbourne and Auckland. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to network with our customers, understand and address their pain points, and gain valuable insights into their real time requirements and how Zoho Projects can align with their objectives.

Key releases

Here's a list of new updates from Zoho Projects and Zoho Sprints:
  • Organized Automation in Zoho Projects: All automation settings—Blueprint, Workflow Rules, Email Templates, Email Alerts, Webhooks, and Macro Rules are now grouped under Settings>Automation. This helps you find everything related to automation in one place.
  • Terminology Update in Zoho Projects: The Timesheets terminology has been updated for better understanding. Each entry is now called a time log, while a group of time logs is referred to as a timesheet.
  • Portfolio dashboard PDF Export in Zoho Projects: Users can now export their project's portfolio dashboard in PDF files. Encryption is available to add a layer of security, and a download link is also sent via email.
  • Profiles UI/UX revamp in Zoho Projects: The Profiles permissions UI/ UX is made more elaborate. The permissions are divided into six sections: Module Permissions, Others, Portal Permissions, Settings, Integrations, and Field Permissions. Users and Clients' access levels can be monitored for all actions across all sections.
  • Import Timesheet in Zoho Sprints: You can now import timesheets from files in Zoho Sprints. Your log hour entries can be imported into your workspace from XLS, CSV, or JSON files, and file fields can be mapped with Zoho Sprints fields to ensure proper data import.

Update a custom field based on a blueprint's parallel transition

We received an interesting requirement from a customer who has an existing blueprint configured with four parallel transitions. When one of these transitions is not performed, the customer wants a specific task custom field to be updated with the user name responsible for that transition. If you have a similar requirement, refer the custom function code in this post.  
 

Sync tasks from Zoho Projects to Zoho Mail

A power user of Zoho, with a paid subscription of Zoho Projects and Zoho Mail, wanted to automatically add tasks to Zoho Mail’s To Do list when a task is created in Zoho Projects. Refer this post to know how we used Task Custom Functions and Workflow Rules in Zoho Projects to automate this requirement.
 

Start, pause, or stop the timer on task status update

A customer requested that timers automatically start, pause, or stop based on the task status updates, ‘In Progress’, ‘Hold’, or ‘Closed’ respectively. We suggested Task Custom Functions along with Workflow Rules to automate the timer’s progress. Check out this post for the script.
 

Auto-update task work hours based on custom field value

One customer wanted to automatically update the work hours of a task based on custom field value. They had a set mapping between task type and work hours. Here’s the custom function we created for this requirement.
