What is a convert feature?
When an entity has reached a certain stage, businesses often convert it into another entity in Zoho CRM. For example, they may want to convert leads into contacts when they meet predefined criteria.
This is done for many reasons: to reflect an important change in the entity's lifecycle, to enable specialized workflows, to make reporting easier or more accurate, to streamline the handoff between teams, and so on.
Zoho CRM has a built-in convert feature for the Leads, Quotes, and Sales Orders modules. With Kiosk Studio, you can create such a feature with your own logic, field mapping, and flow—without coding!
Let's look at an example.
Scenario
Zoved is a food and beverage brand that manages its contacts and deals in Zoho CRM, where it tracks business partner applications in a custom module.
Zoved's business development team reviews these application records thoroughly. Once approved, the team converts these records into one of these entities: franchisee, referral partner, supplier, distributor, marketing partner, or other business partner.
Previously, the business development team did this manually, which involved exporting data, copying and pasting details, manually notifying other teams, and creating records from scratch. As expected, the business development team was not satisfied with this slow and error-prone process, so they approached the CRM admin to help streamline and automate this process as much as possible.
The CRM admin created a custom convert feature that was ready for testing by the end of the day! The manager of the business development was pleasantly surprised when they tested out the new flow:
The new feature was quickly approved and put to use. Training the users took a grand total of 15 minutes. The business development team readily took to the streamlined conversion process, which was quicker, easier, and error-free.
Under the hood
As mentioned before, this feature is not available out of the box in Zoho CRM. Zoved's CRM admin created this feature within one day using Zoho CRM's Kiosk Studio—which was possible because of Kiosk Studio's visual configuration process and wide range of pre-built actions.
