This guide highlights the technical changes and features significant to the U.S Region. These capabilities are designed to help U.S.-based organizations capture the right workforce data, meet federal and state labor regulations, and run compliant HR, time-tracking, leave, and compensation processes out of the box. Each section provides a short introduction, the navigation path to access the feature, and how it helps with compliance.
Onboarding - Employee & Candidate Data
The Employee and Candidate forms can capture the demographic and identification data required for U.S. statutory and equal-employment reporting.

|
|
Social Security Number (SSN)
|
Stores the 9-digit SSN used for payroll, tax withholding (W-2), and federal identity verification. Sensitive/maskable field.
|
|
Ethnicity
|
Captures race/ethnicity categories aligned to the EEOC standard groups, enabling EEO-1 demographic reporting.

|
|
Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
|

|
|
EEO Category
|

|
Customization Tip: Navigate to Settings > Employee Information > Extend Services > Select and edit the Employee form to add or tweak existing fields. The Candidate form will be available within the 'Onboarding' service.
Compliance: Together these fields let U.S. organizations collect EEOC-aligned demographic and job-category data at the source, eliminating manual data preparation when generating equal-employment reports.

Compensation Data
The Compensation service in Zoho People supports multiple pay schedules suited to U.S. workforce models, including Daily Pay, Monthly, and Hourly Pay. Pay schedules determine how an employee’s compensation is structured and paid out.
Navigation: Settings > Compensation > Configuration > General > Scroll down to 'Pay Schedules'
How it helps: Allows organizations to ensure accurate wage, and payroll calculations under U.S. labor rules.
Timesheet Service
Overtime Compliance Policies (All U.S. Regions)
The timesheet service features compliance policies covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico (52 jurisdictions in total). Each policy encodes the applicable daily, weekly, and where relevant consecutive-day overtime rules for that region (for example, California’s daily overtime rule versus the federal 40-hour weekly rule).
Navigation: Settings > Timesheet > Configuration > Overtime Policies > Overtime Compliance Policies
How it helps: Administrators can apply the correct region-specific overtime rules instantly, keeping overtime calculations aligned with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and individual state labor laws without building policies from scratch.
Minimum Wage Warning
When configuring an employee’s wage rate, Zoho People compares the entered pay against the U.S. Department of Labor (federal) and state-sanctioned minimum wage for the relevant jurisdiction. If the configured pay is below the applicable minimum wage, the system shows a warning and an explanatory note.
Navigation: Operations > Timesheet > Employee Wage Rate
How it helps: Acts as a real-time guardrail so HR/payroll administrators do not accidentally configure pay below the legally required minimum wage, supporting wage-and-hour compliance across all U.S. states and territories.
Reports
EEO-1 Report
The EEO-1 Report is a U.S. compliance report that summarizes the workforce by job category (EEO Category), race/ethnicity, and gender, in the format required by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). It draws directly from the Employee Ethnicity, Gender and the Designation EEO Category fields.
Navigation: Reports > Organization Reports > EEO-1 Report (within 'Employee Information')
The Employer Identification Number (EIN) will be required when accessing the EEO-1 Report.
How it helps: Federal contractors and private employers meeting the EEOC thresholds can generate the workforce demographic breakdown needed for their annual EEO-1 Component filing without manual spreadsheet work.
Overtime Details in Timesheet Data for Payroll
The payroll-oriented timesheet report includes a dedicated 'Overtime' column within the report, which when clicked, calculates and displays Regular Hours, Overtime Hours, Double Time Hours details.
Navigation: Reports > Timesheet > Timesheet Data for Payroll
How it helps: Provides payroll teams with FLSA-compliant overtime hours ready for export to payroll, ensuring employees are paid correctly for hours worked beyond statutory thresholds.
Time Off Service (PTO)
Zoho People will automatically add predefined, customizable time off policies specific to the U.S.A to the account.
Navigation: Settings > Leave > Time Off Policy
How it helps: Speeds up policy setup and helps U.S. organizations adopt region-appropriate leave types (e.g., FMLA-style, sick, PTO) consistently across locations.
Attendance Service
Remote Work Support - Office in and Remote in
Zoho People's Office In and Remote In feature automatically categorizes every check-in as office-based or remote, so your attendance data always reflects where work is actually happening.
With this feature, you can:
- Define which check-in sources count as Office In: biometric devices, IP ranges, geofenced locations, kiosks, and more
- Automatically classify all other check-ins as Remote In
- Set rules for mixed days: by first punch, last punch, majority hours, or a minimum office-hours threshold
- Customize the display labels to match your organization's terminology
How it helps: For U.S. IT firms managing hybrid teams across time zones and home offices, this removes the guesswork from attendance reporting. Every entry is classified automatically, giving HR a clear, accurate picture of in-office vs. remote presence without needing manual intervention.
Remote Work Policy
Zoho People's Remote Work Policy helps IT organizations manage that flexibility without losing oversight.
With this feature, you can:
- Set weekly or monthly limits on remote workdays
- Require approvals when limits are exceeded
- Restrict remote check-ins on specific days of the week
- Auto-log a remote work request when an employee punches in remotely
- Scope policies by department, designation, location, or individual employee
How it helps: For U.S. IT firms, getting this balance right has real business impact. Remote Work Policy lets you offer flexibility on your terms: defined, trackable, and consistently enforced.
Public Holiday Gallery (Vacation)
In Zoho People, the Holiday Gallery provides a centralized gallery of standard and region-specific holiday lists. Administrators can browse holidays by region and bulk-add the relevant ones to a holiday list, thereby simplifying organization setup.
Navigation: Operations > Leave > Public Holiday > Add Public Holiday > Public Holiday Gallery
How it helps: Lets organizations apply U.S. federal and state holiday lists to employee locations or shifts in a few clicks, ensuring accurate working-day, payroll, and leave calculations.
Benefits Service
The Benefits service in Zoho People provides organizations with a centralized, structured platform for managing employee benefits. It is designed to help HR teams manage the complete lifecycle of employee benefits, from plan setup and eligibility definition to employee enrollment and dependent tracking.
The service enables benefits plans administrations of various categories: Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, 401(k), STD, LTD, and more.
Navigation: Settings > Benefits > Categories / Plans / Providers.
How it helps: Gives U.S. organizations a single place to administer benefit plans (such as health, retirement, and other offerings), define eligibility, and track enrollments and dependents, supporting accurate benefits administration and reporting. Data can be exported for sharing with service providers, government agencies (such as IRS), insurance carriers, health care administrators, etc.
OKRs (Objectives & Key Results)
OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) in Zoho People help your organization focus on what truly matters by setting clear goals and tracking measurable progress. Objectives define what your organization, team, or individual wants to achieve and should be short, inspiring, and aligned with the organization’s strategy. Key Results specify how success will be measured and must be specific, measurable, and time-bound, with each objective typically having 2–5 Key Results to maintain focus. Sub-Key Results break down Key Results into smaller, actionable steps, making complex goals more manageable and providing clarity on milestones.
Navigation: Performance > OKRs
How it helps: Aligns individual, team, and organizational goals with measurable outcomes, improving focus, transparency, and accountability across the workforce.
