Discussion for “sub product”, “sub item” or “child products”

Hello everyone,

In some CRM systems, there is the ability to associate products in a hierarchical manner within a quote. For example:

  • Product A: Gold Plan

    • Product B: Setup

    • Product C: Connector

  • Product D: Silver Plan

    • Product B: Setup

    • Product C: Connector

  • Product E: Bronze Plan

    • Product B: Setup

    • Product C: Connector

In Zoho CRM, I’m looking for a way to replicate this type of structure—what could be referred to as "sub products," "sub items," or "child products."

Something like this

Use Case: We’re a SaaS company offering three main plans: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each plan can include optional components such as a Setup service and a custom Connector.

There are scenarios where we need to generate a proposal that includes all three plans simultaneously. In these cases, we want to list the Setup and Connector items associated with each plan as part of the quoted items.

Ultimately, this needs to support a mail merge that formats the proposal with a distinct section for each plan—showing the price and quantity for the plan, Setup, and Connector respectively.

I haven’t found a practical way to model this structure in Zoho CRM. Has anyone successfully implemented a solution for this kind of requirement? Ideally, the approach should be scalable, as we may introduce additional plans and dependent items in the future.

Note: I'm aware that we could create custom fields to handle this within the proposal template, but I wanted to open up a broader discussion to explore the most effective and scalable methods for managing this.

Best regards
