The feature in spotlight today is customizing task fields, available as part of the release rolled out last week.

Customized task fields have definite information and values that are unique and more directly related to your business or project model. Your custom field type could be a user pick list, text, number, date, and pick list. Choose your field type based on what you really want to track.

A marketing manager of a content marketing team wants to track the content review status of the teams marketing collaterals for its upcoming product release.

Create a custom field in the task layout

In the tasks layout a new custom field “Content Review” is created. This field is of pick list type with user-defined values of Required, Not Required, Done, In Progress.

Associate a project to the task layout with the custom field

A project called "Marketing Collaterals” is created and the task layout with the newly created “Content Review” custom field is then associated with that project. This allows all tasks within the “Marketing Collaterals” project to be associated with the “Content Review” field.

You can associate the selected task layout to multiple projects as well. Also, filter the tasks based on the custom fields to view them at one place.
