Zoho Projects has recently introduced Profiles and Roles that lets you define user access privileges and their role in the portal. Some projects require specific users to perform certain actions, while the others cannot work on it due to some restrictions or other privacy concerns. With more customizing options available, you can set up multiple user roles such as Manager, Employee etc., and customize access privileges in the user profile, e.g. the user can only view but cannot edit tasks. After setting up user roles and profiles, when you add a new user you can assign a role and profile with the customized permissions. However, a user’s role is the same across all the projects, while the user profile can be specifically customized for individual projects.
