Working remotely with Cliq: Using the department view and statuses effectively
The Remote Work view in Cliq is aimed at providing a smooth transition from workplace collaboration to real time virtual collaboration from anywhere. The whole idea is to bring your office into Cliq by mimicking your office set up for efficient translation of productivity, collaboration and communication. In this post we will focus on how you can up your remote working game with Check In, Check Out, Statuses and Department View.
Lets consider a typical workday, you walk into your office, swipe your ID to register your presence, with the Remote Work view you essentially do the same by clicking on the Check In button.
Department view to see who's at work and who's busy
The department view gives you an overall insight on your team’s presence, availability and engagement. This transparency allows you to plan on collaborating with ease. Your team members are categorized into three sections: At work, Away and Group Call, based on their availability.
Here is how you can put the department view to good use:
- Have an insight on the overall count of the available members to schedule instant meetings.
- Perform a quick search for an employee in a department before inviting them to a group call.
- Get insight on your department members who're currently engaged in a group call.

Let your team know your availability
The best part about working remote is the flexibility you get in terms of work schedule and routine. But at the same time this can become a tad bit difficult sometimes, if we consider approach-ability and team collaboration. This challenge can be handled easily with with Status on Remote Work. We have general and timed statuses curated for providing categorical insight about your current availability to the team.
Here's how Remote Work statuses work and how you can put them to good use:
- Update your status and subtly acknowledge your current state of availability to your team.
- Confirm your team members current availability before you add them to a meeting or schedule a quick call.
- Your status is auto updated to "On a Cliq call" when you are engaged on a Cliq call.
- The timed statuses reverts back to the previously set status and your working hours automatically starts to clock again, to know more about Remote Work statuses click here.
Hope these tips come in handy when you're transitioning to remote! We will continue to give you a tour of the Remote Work view and explore how real time scenarios are replicated on Remote Work.
