As of May 15, 2024, Türkiye is now open for Cloud API business messaging. Businesses can begin conversations and receive messages from WhatsApp users with Turkish numbers.
We now support WhatsApp Cloud for Turkish numbers
Utilizing the Cloud API will enable businesses to start chats with users with Turkish numbers. In the past, these interactions would return an error message. Now, sending a message to a Turkish number activates a webhook to signify the message was sent successfully. Businesses will only be charged upon successful message delivery to ensure cost-effectiveness.
The people of Turkey can use the WhatsApp Cloud API to message their favorite businesses. Earlier, WhatsApp Cloud API was available for businesses in Turkey to use, but WhatsApp users with Turkish numbers could not send or receive messages via Cloud API. As a business service provider (BSP) for Meta, we are excited to provide the Turkish people with better access to business messaging.
Reforming customer interactions in Turkey 🇹🇷
Exciting news is on the horizon for Turkish businesses! Using local numbers with WhatsApp Cloud API has been a challenge for direct and effective customer communication. However, a new development is set to change the game for Turkish businesses, eliminating the limitations they have faced until now.
What can a Turkish business anticipate?
Cloud API businesses can now start conversations with WhatsApp users using their numbers. These interactions will now generate a webhook indicating a sent conversation, replacing the previous error code. The user must agree to the WhatsApp terms for a business message to be marked as delivered or read. Good news!! The business will only incur charges if the message is successfully delivered.
WhatsApp's commitment to privacy
Meta's commitment to personal conversations continues to be protected by end-to-end encryption, signifying that only you and the intended recipient can see them.
When users attempt to send a message to a Cloud-based API business, they will receive an in-app notification regarding the terms update. They can message only after accepting the WhatsApp update. Further, users will be asked to take the WhatsApp update when registering or re-registering the app on their phone.
