Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) are the vehicle Colorado uses to track state law compliance that school districts identify and implement programming for gifted students. As the gifted resource teacher at a high school with over 300 identified gifted students, writing ALPs for each student is an arduous task - mostly getting students, their families, and associated teachers to create goals around the student's area(s) of strength. I'm seeking an online questionnaire whereby students and their families can sit at home writing strength-based goals (possibly from a pull-down menu, but also individually created). If a student goal is tied to a particular teacher, or associated with a teacher's area of expertise, then the student-written ALP goal is emailed to that teacher for their input to the ALP goal. Since the actual ALP database is protected by the district, I'll have to transfer the data to the ALP database. That's fine with me. My problem is getting students to write ALP goals. I figure that if students have the option to go to a website and input their goals there that I'll have more students writing ALP goals.
