New feature: Create back-dated subscriptions

Hello from the Zoho Subscriptions team. :)

We’re happy to announce that today marks the launch of a much-awaited feature: creating back-dated subscriptions!

From here on out, whenever you create a new subscription with an activation date that is earlier than the present date, you’ll no longer get an error. Instead, you'll be creating a back-dated subscription.

This means that the subscription started at that earlier point in time. The next billing date will be calculated automatically based on that earlier date you select.

An important thing to note: You can back-date a subscription as far back in time as you need, even as far as many months or years.

However there will be no renewals or payments recorded for previous months (or years, depending on the subscription interval that you have selected). In other words, back-dating a subscription affects only the subscription activation date, and does not affect earlier payments or renewals in the system.

You can back-date a subscription with the Zoho Subscriptions API as well.

Creating back-dated subscriptions can be useful in many situations. For example, when you’re migrating from another system, you’ll need to migrate your old subscriptions from that system, which would have started at earlier points in time.
