Pasting Format

I sometimes paste things I need to save the format of, on my macbook pro when i paste to notebook it makes very large blank lines and destroys my formatting. I cant find an option to disable, is it possible too?

ALso, can you attach any kind of files? I cant seem to attach a .yaml file. I will look this up but thought id through it in here.
