Affiliate marketing has gained a lot of popularity in the last decade, and almost all businesses—big and small—are including it in their promotional strategy. It's efficient, cost-effective, and has been known to yield outstanding results. Also, with more and more websites, blogs, and social networks willing to be affiliates, this also helps increase a brand's online presence.
So why not advertise your event through affiliates, too? Now is a great time to try it out since Backstage has a way to help you consolidate metrics to better understand affiliate value.
Here's how you can track your affiliate performance in Backstage:
Get your affiliate link
Any time you get an affiliate to promote your event, generate an affiliate link for them in Backstage. Affiliates will use this link when they promote your event on their platform. The link includes a tracking code attached to your event microsite's URL, which will act as a virtual trail to lead back to the affiliate. This is used to know if a visitor came to you through them.
Get your metrics
Once your affiliates start promoting your event with the link, you can keep note of all actions that visitors from that link make on your microsite. All data will be available for you in real time. Get the following metrics from the Affiliate tab, and use them to tailor your affiliate program:
- The number of visits made through the affiliate link
- The total orders placed by those visitors
- The total sales generated from those orders
Also, when an attendee registers for your event through an affiliate link, the details of it will be mentioned in the Attendee tab too.
