updating field

updating field

hello , how can i update a field depending of the value of other field value.
 i got a field call Sales order date  and anotrher field Expected due date , i want to do foew of the following 
1 . how can i update Expected due date value depending on sales order date ,
2 can i have this field which is non editable (only auto fill depending SO Date)
