Create custom project templates and use them to start projects that are similar or repetitive in nature.
For instance, a publishing company handles a variety of books like management, research, STEM etc. Each division follows their own process and the tasks are interdependent that are managed by individuals with unique skill sets.
In case of STEM books, the author review and budgeting are more extensive that usually involve multiple rounds. These books complete their journey in 6 to 7 months, where milestones and tasks are set and accomplished by various teams.
However, the management books are fast flowing and have limited number of iterations therefore the entire publishing process closes within 3-4 months. There are a maximum of 2 to 3 teams involved from liaising with author to publishing the book.
It is useful to create two unique project templates for each of these divisions so that whenever a new book comes for publishing a new project can be created from the existing template depending on the division they belong to.
Each of these project templates can have customized dashboards, milestones, tasks, dependencies, process documents, users etc. When a project is created from this template these are copied onto the new project. The widgets on the dashboard are also copied in the same order.
This way one can reduce the manual intervention and reduce errors that may occur while creating new projects that are similar or repetitive in nature.
