Varying compensation for same role/job stream

I'm trying to configure our company's compensation settings for our Premium account. However, it seems that the compensation feature doesn't allow for employees to have varying salaries for the same role/job stream?

For example: engineer 1 has been with us for 3 years and has 10 years of experience and has the same role as engineer 2 with 9 years of experience but has just joined our company. Both of these individuals would not get the same pay rate, despite their titles being identical.

A lot of our employees are paid based on how long they've worked with us, which location they're based at, etc. Surely there is a way to just be able to input peoples' individual compensation rates and get the functionality out of the compensation feature? I've made custom forms to fit our needs, but this also means that we don't get our intended level of functionality from the performance feature.

If not we're highly considering just dropping our subscription as this was one of the main reasons we wanted premium.
