Comments in Addition to Questions
I think it would be helpful if the questions box could be used as a comments box too.
For example, the host could engage viewers by asking them where they're logged in from, and people could type their answers chat-style. Or, the host could say, "What's your favorite tool for XYZ?"
Sometimes we don't need or want a formal poll and freeform answers are better for engagement.
BUT, I still think they should be able to check a box if something is a question, so it gets the host's attention and we answer it. I really like how questions work and wouldn't want to change that - just added functionality of comments.
