Zoho DataPrep to Deprecate Password-Only Authentication for Snowflake Connections on July 31, 2025

Zoho DataPrep to Deprecate Password-Only Authentication for Snowflake Connections on July 31, 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to security and in alignment with Snowflake's pledge to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Secure by Design initiative, Zoho DataPrep will no longer support single-factor password authentication.

Starting from October 2024, all new Snowflake accounts will have multi-factor authentication (MFA) as the default for all password sign-ins. By November 2025, Snowflake will officially block all sign-ins that rely on single-factor authentication with passwords.

We encourage our users to begin transitioning to MFA as soon as possible to ensure continued access and enhanced security.

What is changing in Zoho DataPrep?
  • From August 2025, Zoho DataPrep will support Private Key and OAuth authentication methods for Snowflake.
  • Users can begin using these authentication methods when creating Snowflake database connections.
  • Existing users are encouraged to update their Snowflake connections before November 2025 to ensure continued access.
How to update existing Snowflake connections?

1. Go to the Saved connections tab in Zoho DataPrep. Click the ellipses icon of the required connection and choose the Edit connection option.

2. The username and password option will be selected by default as the Authentication type.

3. Choose the required authentication method and update the details. Look into the Private key and OAuth sections to learn more about authentication types.

4. Click Update. For more information, refer to our help documentation.
